Ovarian cancer screening is performed with Transvaginal Ultrasound and CA-125 blood test.
Approximately 20% of the total ovarian cancer cases are detected at an initial stage. There are two important tests that are done to detect ovarian cancer in the high-risk groups TVUS (transvaginal ultrasound). In this an ultrasound wand is put inside the vagina and with the help of sound waves different reproductory organs like ovaries, uterus and fallopian tubes are examined. CA-125 blood test is used to check the quantity of a protein known as CA-125 in the blood as the women with this condition has higher level of CA-125.
