There are 4 types of Oral Cancer which includes Squamous Cell Carcinoma, Oral Verrucous Carcinoma, Oral Lymphomas, and Salivary Gland Tumor.
The types of the oral cancer include that of lips, tongue, gums, inner lining of the mouth and hard and soft palate of the mouth.
Squamous Cell Carcinoma: 90% of the oral cancer starts in the squamous cells of the mouth. Squamous cells are very thin and flat cells.
Oral Verrucous Carcinoma: 5% of all oral cancers are verrucous in nature. This type of cancer is very slow spreading and rarely reaches the distant organs in the body.
Oral Lymphomas: If cancer starts in the lymphatic system of the body, it is known as lymphomas. Base of tongue and tonsils have lymphoid tissue where cancer can start.
Salivary Gland Tumor: This type of tumor starts in salivary glands which are located throughout the lining inside the mouth.
