Oral Cancer is mainly divided into 4 stages which starts from Stage 1 to Stage 4. Stage 1 is the initial stage and Stage 4 is the advanced stage where the condition cannot be treated to cure.
Oral Cancer is classified into 4 stages in which Stage I is the early stages when the symptoms are just visible and Stage IV is the stage in which the cancer has reached the most severe stage where it becomes difficult to treat the cancer.
Stage 1:Tumor is confined inside the mouth and it's size is lesser than 2 cm. It has not spread to lymph nodes or any other region.
Stage 2: The tumor size varies from 2 cm to 4cm but again the cancer has not spread to the lymph nodes.
Stage 3: The tumor size is greater than 4 cm and it has not reached any of the nodes OR The tumor can be of any size but it has reached one node but not any other part of the body.
Stage 4: Tumor can be of any size and it has spread to the lymph nodes and distant organs.
