Causes of lung cancer includes smoking and exposure to excessive pollution.

Lung Cancer starts when the cancerous cells begin to grow in the lung tissues. Most of the lung tumors are malignant. Smoking is one of the prime reasons for the occurrence of Lung Cancer. Men who smoke on a regular basis especially several times a day are more subjected to the risk of having lung cancer. Around 80% of the cases of lung cancer is due to the habit of smoking. In some of the cases, non-smokers can also get Lung Cancer due to exposure to excessive pollution and second hand smoke. Inherited and acquired genetic changes in the lungs also lead to the occurrence of lung cancer.
