Urine Cytology is the examination of the cells which are colllected from urine sample of a patient.

Urine cytology helps the doctor to know about the appearance and functioning of the cells collected from a urine sample. Apart from cancerous and precancerous conditions, it can also tell about the infections, inflammations present in the urinary tract. Urine cytology is an effective tests in the diagnoses of aggressive kidney cancers in comparison to the ones growing at a slow pace. At times, a biopsy follows the results of urine cytology to confirm the diagnosis.
